Kalasin: A young monk was apprehended after stealing a car from a layperson during a merit-making event on Buddhist Lent Day. The incident took place in Somdet District and was promptly addressed by local authorities. According to Thai News Agency, officers from Somdet Police Station intercepted a black sedan at a red light intersection after receiving a report about the car theft. The vehicle was taken by a monk from a relative who was participating in the religious observance of Buddhist Lent Day. The monk fled the scene in the stolen car, heading towards Somdet District. Upon interception, the monk was found speaking incoherently. Police officials escorted him to the station to allow him to calm down and notified the car owner to retrieve the vehicle. Legal proceedings are expected to follow once the monk is officially disrobed.
