Monk from Pathum Thani Temple Faces New Legal Case Over Temple Funds

Pathum thani: "Big Tao" has initiated a new legal case against a monk associated with a renowned temple in Pathum Thani, concerning temple funds that have been connected to a German laywoman. The monk has been requested to clarify his innocence, with a warning that failure to do so could lead to damages.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, disclosed details of the case involving 12.2 million baht in temple funds that were allegedly transferred to the account of a female lay follower. The complaint has been filed with the Crime Suppression Division, and a case has been opened. Authorities are actively investigating and have gathered considerable information. The investigation aims to determine whether the woman involved is connected to the individual being targeted by police. The primary focus will be on scrutinizing the temple's financial transactions, and any involvement found will be subject to prosecution.

In relation to lawyer Ananchai Chaidech, president of the Army Lawyers Foundation, who shared evidence on social media, it was noted that his actions could benefit the case. The decision to summon him for questioning is currently under review by the investigating officer, with further clarity expected soon.

Reports suggest that a total of nine individuals, including the monk, are implicated in this matter. The monk has been urged to come forward and assert his innocence. Failure to do so could result in significant damage due to the substantial evidence collected.
