Monk Disrobed After Allegations of Indecent Acts Surface in Surat Thani.

Surat Thani: A monk has been disrobed following disturbing allegations that he committed indecent acts with six young novices and boys. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community after it was revealed that the monk's quarters contained sexual stimulants. According to Thai News Agency, police officers from Phra Saeng Police Station, in conjunction with local government officials, arrested Phra Chaturaphat, also known as Mr. Chaturaphat, aged 44, who served as the abbot of a monastery in Tambon Sai Khung, Amphoe Phra Saeng, Surat Thani Province. The arrest was initiated after a community leader reported his involvement in indecent acts with boys aged 11-13. A disciple of the temple secretly recorded the monk bringing a victim into his quarters and closing the door. The footage reportedly shows the monk lying on a bed while the disciple massaged his legs before he proceeded to commit indecent acts. The temple disciple, who served as the monk's driver, claimed that the incident filmed occurred early last month and that the monk had requested similar acts on multiple occasions. During the investigation, Phra Chaturaphat admitted that he had received massages from a novice between April and October. Consequently, he was summoned to disrobe at Wat Sam Phan, Tambon Sai Khung, Amphoe Phrasaeng, Surat Thani Province. A subsequent search of Mr. Chaturaphat's living quarters revealed two packets of a sexual arousal supplement and four packets of sexual arousal coffee on the headboard. These items were seized as evidence. He is now facing prosecution at Phra Saeng Police Station on multiple charges, including 'committing indecent acts with a child under thirteen years of age, regardless of consent,' and 'taking a child under fifteen for the purpose of indecent acts, even with consent,' among others.
