Bangkok: "Mongkol" keeps his mouth shut, does not answer questions about collusion in selecting the Senate. After the Senate held a press conference and addressed questions on the government's call to convene a special parliamentary session concerning the conflict situation along the Thailand-Cambodia border, reporters sought answers regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged collusion in the selection of senators.
According to Thai News Agency, the Senate President, Mr. Mongkol Surassajja, was among those summoned by the 26th Investigation and Inquiry Committee of the Election Commission (EC) to acknowledge charges and provide clarification. However, Mr. Mongkol refrained from making any comments, telling reporters that the current meeting's agenda was limited to discussions on "Thailand-Cambodia" and that he would not discuss or comment on the collusion allegations.
Reporters noted that many senators present at the press conference were those summoned by the Election Commission to acknowledge and clarify allegations of collusion related to the selection of nearly all Senate members. Despite the pressure, Mr. Mongkol and his fellow senators chose to remain silent on the sensitive issue.
