Model Farm Worker Credits His Majesty for Saving Lives

Ang thong: Workers at the model farm established in honor of Her Majesty the Queen Mother were heartbroken upon hearing the news of Her Majesty’s passing. They expressed their gratitude, saying they owe their lives to Her Majesty.

According to Thai News Agency, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s Model Farm, located in Ban Nong Rahan Chin, Village No. 1, Ban It Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ang Thong Province, is one of two vocational training projects initiated by Her Majesty in the region. The farm spans 36 rai, with 23 rai dedicated to a mixed orchard, seasonal vegetable plots, a nursery, and a vegetable greenhouse, while the remaining 13 rai serve as a water source. The farm was conceived by Her Majesty following the severe flooding in Ang Thong Province in 2006, which left parts of Ban It Subdistrict inundated. The objective was to provide a means for community members to acquire vocational skills and generate income, thereby easing the hardships faced by locals affected by the floods.

Ms. Pornpen Meesang, aged 74, a founding member of the Nong Lahan Chin Model Farm, shared her emotional journey. She recalled how the area was a wasteland before the floods of 2006 rendered villagers helpless. Her Majesty’s initiative to establish the model farm provided villagers with employment opportunities. Her Majesty’s visit to the farm on February 22, 2007, left a lasting impact on the community. Villagers were touched by her gracious demeanor and her genuine concern for their well-being.
