Bangkok: The Ministry of Industry has announced a significant initiative aimed at promoting more than 200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, detailed that the government, through the SME Development Fund under the Pracharat model, is implementing this initiative by allocating a budget exceeding 10 million baht. The objective is to assist over 200 Thai SMEs in increasing their income, reducing costs, and preserving the environment through two pivotal projects. The first project, the Digital Business Development Project for New Transformation, aims to enhance the capabilities of SMEs by integrating digital technology into business processes and management. This initiative targets 10 0 SMEs across industries such as digital S-Curve industries, agricultural processing, processed food, fashion and lifestyle, and others that require digital technology application. The second project, the Sustainable Productivity Improvement Project, focuses on making production processes more environmentally friendly, reducing costs, and boosting sustainable competitiveness. This project involves 100 SMEs in sectors like S-Curve industries, digital, agricultural processing, processed food, fashion and lifestyle, and industries with high energy usage or greenhouse gas emissions. Entrepreneurs participating in these projects will receive guidance on adapting to digital technologies or improving sustainable production processes. Additionally, they will have access to financial support through loans from the fund, aimed at reducing energy costs, increasing income, and expanding trading opportunities in international markets. The projects are expected to generate economic value exceeding 62 million baht. Ms. S asikarn emphasized that these operations align with the government's policy and the Minister of Industry's goal to "Save Thai Industry." The initiatives aim to foster competitive equality, elevate Thai SMEs to thrive amidst challenges, and enhance digital capabilities and sustainable production. Furthermore, they provide access to low-interest funding sources and incorporate Green Productivity Measurement for monitoring and evaluation, in line with the national strategy of developing green industries for sustainable growth on the global stage.
