Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its vigilant monitoring of an incident where a Myanmar warship apprehended a Thai fishing vessel near Yan Cheuk Island. The Ministry has assured full assistance to the Thai crew involved. According to Thai News Agency, a Myanmar navy warship captured a Thai fishing boat with 31 crew members in the vicinity of Yan Cheuk Island. The vessel was subsequently taken to the Myanmar coast, resulting in injuries to two crew members during the morning of November 30. Mr. Nikorndej Plangoon, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Royal Thai Navy is actively coordinating with the Myanmar Navy, following directives from the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has also instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon liaises with Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Embassy has commenced these efforts and will continue to closely observe the situ ation's development. Additionally, the Prime Minister has directed relevant agencies to explore any potential breaches of international law, including the use of excessive force, to determine appropriate measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, committed to supporting Thais facing adversity abroad, has pledged comprehensive assistance to the affected crew and will provide updates on the situation's progress.
