Minister of Education Vows Support for Families Affected by Thai-Cambodian Border Unrest

Surin: The Minister of Education visited the shelter in Surin Province, expressing his gratitude to the teachers who sacrificed themselves even though they were victims of the disaster, but still cared for the students closely. He declared that the Ministry of Education will continue to support every family until the situation improves.

According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, revealed after visiting a shelter in Surin Province that the current unrest situation on the Thai-Cambodian border is a crisis that cannot be predicted how long it will last. The Ministry of Education is therefore urgently integrating cooperation with local and central agencies to take care of children, families, and educational personnel in the area to ensure their safety. Currently, it is not only students and parents who are affected, but also teachers and educational personnel of the Ministry of Education. Teachers have sacrificed themselves to take care of the children at the temporary shelter closely.

The Minister expressed gratitude to all the teachers and educational personnel who, despite having to evacuate from their homes, did not forget to take care of and protect their students. At every shelter that the school is taking care of, the teachers have organized activities for the children to the fullest so that the children can relax, reduce stress, and feel that there are always people who are hugging them.

Evacuating children and families of affected schools to the same shelter will allow for systematic management of students. However, due to the urgent evacuation, many essential items were not prepared. The Ministry of Education, as the owner of the shelter, has coordinated with local agencies and the government to request assistance in providing essential items for the shelter, such as mosquito nets, sleeping pillows, clothes, sanitary pads, powdered milk for children, and other basic items, which have been gradually delivered. In particular, the mosquito nets, which were urgently requested by the public, were delivered by the Ministry of Education yesterday.
