MEA and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Collaborate on E-Utility Management System

Bangkok: MEA and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration held a meeting to explain the 'Bangkok E-Utility Management' system to improve the permitting process for public utility construction. Today (May 8, 2015), Mr. Thitiwut Ngernklai, Deputy Governor of MEA or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, chaired a meeting to explain the construction permit management system for public utilities in the Bangkok area or Bangkok E-Utility Management in collaboration with Bangkok. The system was developed by Bangkok to serve as a central platform for managing public utility construction in public areas efficiently, supporting permit applications, notification of entry, operation control, and land handover via an online system, which will help reduce redundant work processes and enable more accurate identification of the construction lines of public utilities of each agency. The meeting was held in the seminar room 3, 12th floor, Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Head Office, Klongtoey.

According to Thai News Agency, this meeting was held to explain the system usage guidelines to MEA officials, one of the main public utility agencies that will have to use the system in their operations. The aim is to ensure that officials understand and are able to perform their duties correctly and in accordance with the policies of Bangkok.

The MEA Deputy Governor said that as a public utility agency operating in the Bangkok area, MEA places importance on close coordination with local agencies, especially using a central system for requesting permission and managing construction work. This will help the work be systematic and standardized. In the event of a complaint, the construction lines of each agency can be more accurately identified. Various agencies can plan, coordinate, and control their work better. They will not have to deal with repeated road digging or unnecessary road closures, making life in the city more convenient, safe, and efficient.

However, MEA is committed to driving the development of the city's infrastructure, while taking into account the impact on the people, and supporting cooperation with all sectors to jointly elevate Bangkok to become a smart city in the future.
