‘Maris’ Confirms Transfer of Shares Before Assuming Position.

Bangkok: Maris Sengiampong, the Foreign Minister, has confirmed that he transferred his shares before taking office, following a request for examination of his qualifications by Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, a member of the Palang Pracharath Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Ruangkrai had submitted a letter to the Election Commission seeking an investigation into whether Maris Sengiampong’s qualifications as a minister violated the constitution. The concern arose from Maris allegedly holding shares in Siam Medtech Development Co., Ltd. beyond the constitutional limit. The request was also submitted to the Department of Commerce after Maris assumed office. However, Maris assured that he had already submitted the necessary request to transfer his shares before taking office. The process to confirm this transfer is underway, as Maris mentioned before proceeding to the command building for the cabinet meeting.
