In the 21st minute, Napoli's captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo received a red card after fouling Erling Haaland. This pivotal moment set the stage for City's dominance in the game.
In the second half, Manchester City's Erling Haaland scored the opening goal in the 56th minute, becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in Champions League history, achieving this milestone in 49 appearances. Jeremie Doku added to the scoreline in the 65th minute, securing City's first three points in the league phase.
After the match, Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, acknowledged the challenge of playing against a defensively strong Napoli despite their numerical disadvantage.
