Man Arrested for Killing Burmese Woman and Dumping Body in Forest

Mae Sot: Crime Suppression Division police have arrested a man for allegedly killing a Burmese woman and disposing of her body in a sack along a roadside in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. The suspect, identified as Mr. Decha, claimed that an argument led to the accidental death of the woman, known as Ms. Mie.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident dates back to February 28 when a small female body, resembling that of a child no older than 15, was discovered as a dried skeleton inside a green sack. The body was found near the road connecting Mae Sot and Mae Ramat Districts in Tak Province. Authorities estimated that she had been deceased for approximately two weeks. The victim was wearing a sports shirt from Ban San Pa Rai School, and parts of her sweatpants were missing, likely due to scavenging by dogs. Her leg had been separated from the body, possibly due to animal activity. An examination revealed head trauma, though the motive for the killing remains unclear. Investigators have posited that the crime could have happened near the site where the body was found or elsewhere before being dumped.

On April 5, police from Crime Suppression Division 4 arrested 54-year-old Mr. Decha, who was wanted by the Mae Sot Provincial Court on charges of "jointly killing another person and jointly moving a corpse without proper reason." The arrest took place in a hut in Village 7, Mae Ka Sa Subdistrict, Mae Sot District.

Investigations revealed that Mr. Decha and his brother, Mr. Somphet, were implicated in the crime. Police determined that the suspects had fled to tend cattle in the Mae Ka Sa sub-district, where they apprehended Mr. Decha. During questioning, Mr. Decha admitted that the victim, Ms. Mie, was his brother's wife. He recounted that during the altercation, he attacked Ms. Mie, causing her to fall and hit her head on a tractor, leading to her death. Mr. Decha then enlisted the help of a subordinate, Mr. Awe, previously arrested, to place the body in a fertilizer sack and discard it by the roadside. The suspect has since been taken to Mae Sot Police Station for further legal action.
