Major Drug Trafficker Arrested in Tao Poon Area, 105 kg of Ice Seized

Bangkok: The Metropolitan Police Bureau's Drug Suppression Operations Unit 2 has carried out a successful raid in the Tao Poon area, arresting "Pu Thairat," a significant figure in the local drug trafficking scene. The operation uncovered a stash of 105 kilograms of ice hidden in a room located in the Bang Sue area. The arrested individual, Pu Thairat, confessed to having been involved in drug delivery activities several times in the past, ceasing only after the arrest of her accomplices.

According to Thai News Agency, the police task force discovered the room was being used by the major drug network as a storage site for illegal substances. Upon raiding the premises, authorities found Mr. Narong, also known as Pu Thai Rat, along with a bag of ice, 30 methamphetamine pills, a homemade firearm, a revolver, and 96 rounds of ammunition, all strategically concealed within the room. A subsequent search of Mr. Narong's car revealed four rainbow sacks containing 105 kilograms of ice.

Pol. Col. Akkarapol Toya, Superintendent of Investigation at Metropolitan Police Bureau 2, indicated that this arrest is linked to a previous crackdown on a prominent drug network in the Tao Poon area in December. Investigations had revealed plans for drug distribution and storage in the room, destined for various customers.

During interrogation, Mr. Narong disclosed his involvement in drug smuggling since around 2024, initially with a friend until the friend's arrest prompted his temporary withdrawal from the trade. However, he was re-approached by the network at the end of December to resume drug delivery duties, earning 1,000 baht per kilogram. His role involved distributing small quantities to minor dealers in Bangkok and larger shipments to the network in Nonthaburi. He had recently received the seized drugs from Suphan Buri province just days before his arrest.

The investigation team is now intensively working to dismantle the broader drug network connected to Mr. Narong, with efforts focused on identifying and arresting the individuals who orchestrated the smuggling operations.
