Maha Sawat Canal Bridge Project Inspected Before Outbound Opening

Nonthaburi: Inspecting the construction project of the Maha Sawat Canal Bridge before it is actually opened for use on the outbound side, officials from the Ministry of Transport conducted a thorough site visit. The project aims to enhance traffic flow on Ratchaphruek Road and support increased road usage, which has recently surged to 120,000 vehicles per day.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kritchanon Aiyapan, Assistant Minister to the Ministry of Transport and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Transport, stated that he visited the bridge construction site located on Ratchaphruek Road in Nonthaburi Province. The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has overseen the bridge's construction, which has been operational on the inbound side since May 2025. The inspection was conducted to ensure readiness for public use on the outbound side, enhancing the road's capacity and alleviating congestion issues between Taling Chan Subdistrict in Bangkok and Mahasawat Subdistrict in Nonthaburi Province.

Mr. Montree Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, highlighted that the rapid development and increased land use in Nonthaburi Province, especially along Ratchaphruek Road, necessitated the project. The road's current infrastructure cannot support the heavy traffic volume, particularly during peak hours. The bridge project, which spans from km. 12+850 to km. 15+100, features a steel structure with two traffic lanes per direction, each 8.50 meters wide. The inbound section measures 2.10 kilometers, while the outbound section is 1.90 kilometers long. The project also includes drainage, lighting, and other necessary construction works, with a total budget of 1,181.515 million baht. The bridge is now complete and ready for public use, aligning with governmental and ministerial transport policies.
