Chiang Mai: 'Madam Yok' expressed gratitude for over 30,000 votes from Chiang Mai residents, supporting the 'Indie Party' candidate, a surprising contender in the election. She vowed to continue her community service efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, the election for provincial administrative organizations across the country saw intense competition, including in Chiang Mai Province. The contest was primarily between Pheu Thai Party candidate Mr. Pichai Lertpongadisorn, who garnered an unofficial count of 379,341 votes, and Prachachon Party candidate Mr. Phan-arj Chairat, who received 358,386 votes. Key figures such as Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra and Mr. Nattawut Saikua supported the Pheu Thai Party, while Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat, former leader of the Move Forward Party, aided the Prachachon Party. Ultimately, the Pheu Thai Party triumphed with a narrow lead.

The election in Chiang Mai was notable for the unexpected success of Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanom Sripued from the Independent Move Party (INDY Party), led by 'Madam Yok' Ms. Kotchaporn Weroj. Although the party endorsed their candidate just four days before the election, they secured nearly 30,000 votes.

Ms. Kotchaporn, leader of the Independent Progressive Party, expressed gratitude to Chiang Mai voters for supporting General Phanom Sripued, who received 26,940 votes. Her efforts include advocacy for human rights, children's rights, women's rights, and supporting vulnerable groups through initiatives like the Change Together by Madame Yok club project. She has also provided assistance during the COVID pandemic and natural disasters.

'I would like to thank everyone for their votes for the Independent Progressive Party candidates, which will be an important source of encouragement. I promise to continue to do good, help people, and serve the community. No matter where I am, I will do my best as I have always done,' said Ms. Kotchaporn.
