Luang Por Alongkot to Address Money Trail Allegations at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu

Lop buri: 'Father Alongkot' is scheduled to address the public this afternoon regarding the ongoing investigation into financial matters at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. The temple's situation has drawn increased scrutiny following revelations from police evidence that have shifted perceptions of the temple's role in the matter.

According to Thai News Agency, preparations are underway at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu for a visit by Mr. Suchart Tancharoen, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office. The minister, who oversees the National Office of Buddhism, is set to conduct a fact-finding mission at 2:00 PM. Meanwhile, media representatives are stationed at the temple, awaiting updates on the investigation into the temple's finances and land ownership issues.

Phra Khru Suwat Kittisarn, abbot of Khao Sam Yot subdistrict, reported that he has already submitted his findings to relevant authorities, indicating no irregularities within the temple's financial records. However, he noted that personal accounts and external projects fall outside his jurisdiction. He also mentioned that Luang Por Alongkot must ensure that land registered under another individual is reverted to the temple's name within a month.

Police Colonel Anek Taosuphap, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, provided updates on the investigation involving Dr. B and Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. He confirmed that police have obtained bank statements from the donation account managed by Dr. B, dating back to 2019. The investigation is expected to conclude soon, offering clarity to the public. Despite limited cooperation from the temple regarding account details, police have gathered additional information that challenges the initial belief of the temple being solely a victim.

The investigation aims to clarify whether Luang Por Alongkot was deceived or complicit in the incident. Transparency regarding donation amounts is crucial to uphold the temple's reputation and assure the public.

Since Sunday, Luang Por Alongkot has been absent from temple activities, fueling speculation about a potential resignation. However, no resignation letter has been submitted to the sub-district abbot. A formal statement from the temple is anticipated later today.
