Lively Chiang Mai Elections See High Voter Turnout

Chiang Mai: People are gradually exercising their right to vote in the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization election, while the Election Commission chairman confirmed that no irregularities were found on the night of the howling dog. It is expected that Chiang Mai people will exercise their right to vote more than last time.

According to Thai News Agency, since this morning, after the ballot boxes were opened for the election of members of the Provincial Administrative Organization Council and the Provincial Administrative Organization President, Chiang Mai residents have come out in large numbers to exercise their rights, despite the cold weather.

At polling station 43 of the Chiang Mai City District electoral district, Chiang Mai residents have been coming to exercise their rights in large numbers. Mr. Nirat Phongsitthaworn, Chiang Mai Governor, was the first to exercise his right to vote at this polling station, as was the case at many other polling stations. The news team went to observe the atmosphere and found that Chiang Mai residents had come out to exercise their rights in large numbers.

Mr. Ittiporn Boonprakong, Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), traveled to inspect the orderliness of the polling unit at Wat Chaimongkol before the opening of the ballot boxes. He expects that the number of people nationwide will increase to 65 percent from 62 percent last time, especially Chiang Mai residents who set a target of 75 percent of people exercising their right to vote, up from 71 percent last time. As for last night, which was the night before the election or the night of the howling dog, the EC chairman said that he had not received any reports of irregularities, but he ordered officials to closely monitor any violations of election laws.

The Election Commission chairman also said that he had asked for cooperation from the Chamber of Commerce and various business sectors to facilitate employees to take time off work to vote, and they have received good cooperation.
