LAMPANG: Lampang Elephant Hospital is preparing to cut off some of the tusks of "Plai Sak Surin" because their long tusks make daily life difficult for the elephant. There is news that the Lampang Elephant Hospital is considering proposing to cut off some of 'Plai Sak Surin's' tusks because they are so long that they make daily life difficult for the elephant. According to Thai News Agency, reporters visited the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang to meet with a team of veterinarians and observe Plai Sak Surin's living conditions on a hill near the Elephant Hospital. They discovered that both tusks had grown long, nearly touching the ground. The elephant has been forced to keep its head elevated to prevent the tusks from dragging, which could negatively affect its body. Experts have been consulted with the possibility of trimming the tusks to reduce their weight, thereby easing the elephant's daily life. Additionally, Plai Sak Surin had suffered an injury to the left front leg at the elbow-tendon, which previously prevented the elephant from bending its leg. The condition has shown improvement, allowing better mobility. However, there remains a slight swing in its walking posture when bending its leg. Veterinarians have been addressing this issue through physical therapy, aiming to enhance the elephant's overall mobility and comfort.
