Kowit Resigns from Phalang Pracharath Party Over Ideological Differences

Bangkok: "Kowit" has officially resigned from the Phalang Pracharath Party, citing dissatisfaction with the party's ideological alignment and unclear conditions for joining the government. He emphasized that his departure was voluntary and due to a sense of inferiority.

According to Thai News Agency, former MP Kowit Puangngam also stepped down from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party. He initially joined the party with aspirations to promote decentralization and empower local governments, contributing to national development, including in the education sector. Kowit expressed gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Peerapan Salirathavipak, the party leader, for welcoming him. However, after two years of observing the party's actions and receiving no response to his initiatives, he decided to resign.

Kowit confirmed that he submitted his resignation to the Election Commission (EC) on August 5th. Despite his departure, he maintains respect for the party leader and executive committee. He attributed his resignation to frustration with the party's need to recruit capable individuals to unify the party. Internal news reports have suggested a division within the party, which Kowit finds regrettable. He urged the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party to focus on unity and clarify the conditions for joining the government.

When questioned about potential pressure from a faction within the party, Kowit clarified that his resignation stemmed from feeling inferior due to unmet ideological expectations and uncertainties about the party's governmental conditions.

Asked whether his resignation could be seen as premature, especially with potential party splits in the forthcoming election, Kowit disagreed. He emphasized that his political decisions were based on ideology rather than resignation. While acknowledging the party's strengths, he stressed that the issue was unrelated to him. Kowit added that he might return to politics if the opportunity arises, given his background as a teacher.
