King Cobra Caught at School and Another Snake Found in Betong Home

Betong: Panic ensued when a 4-meter long king cobra, weighing nearly 10 kilograms, appeared in the agricultural plot of a school in Betong District, Yala Province. In a separate incident, another cobra was discovered in a house located in the center of Betong City. Rescuers successfully captured both snakes and released them back into the wild.

According to Thai News Agency, villagers played a crucial role in capturing the large king cobra before notifying rescue workers and the Betong Animal Lovers Club. The snake was first seen the previous night, but due to insufficient light, it eluded capture and retreated into the surrounding forest. The following day, villagers, alerted by the barking of two dogs, 'Luk Mi' and 'Jin Yin,' discovered the cobra in the school's vegetable plot. Fearing for the safety of children who play nearby, residents used a bamboo pole to safely capture the snake and contacted authorities for assistance. The female king cobra was eventually released into the wild.

While authorities were in the process of releasing the king cobra, they received a call for assistance with another snake at a house on Sukyang Road in Betong Municipality. Upon arrival, officers found a nearly 1-meter long black cobra behind the house. The capture took approximately five minutes, and due to a lack of a sack, the snake was temporarily placed in a basket before being released back into its natural habitat.
