Bangkok: His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen participated in a royal merit-making ceremony on Chulalongkorn Day, B.E. 2567, commemorating King Chulalongkorn's contributions. The event, held at the Grand Palace, saw the royal couple pay respects at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial and partake in a merit-making ceremony attended by Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony commenced on October 23, 2024, at 5:19 p.m., when the King and Queen arrived by royal vehicle at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial on Dusit Palace grounds. His Majesty laid a personal wreath, lit incense and candles, and paid homage to King Chulalongkorn. Her Majesty followed with similar tributes, including laying a wreath for Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. Princess Sirivannavari also participated in the tribute. The royal couple then proceeded to the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall for the merit-making ceremony. There, the King lit incense and candles in homage to Buddha images linked t o King Chulalongkorn and several Queen Mothers. The ceremony included a sermon by Phra Thammachirodom, the abbot of Wat Sangwet Wisayaram, and offerings of monk robes in two rounds, totaling 38 sets, to the monks conducting the prayers. The event concluded with His Majesty and Her Majesty paying homage to the royal relics and ashes of past monarchs and consorts. Princess Sirivannavari joined in these respects before the royal party departed the Grand Palace.
