Bangkok: Khunying Potjaman joined the Pheu Thai Party, telling MPs to "keep fighting". Members applauded, conveying the message that Shinawatra is still going.
According to Thai News Agency, at the weekly Pheu Thai Party meeting, Deputy Leader Chusak Sirinil and core leader Suriya Jungrungreangkit chaired the gathering. When Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the party leader, entered the meeting room, party members applauded in support before she sat down with core members. Suriya addressed the members, stating that while some people left today, it did not affect the party's strength and unity. He stressed that the party remains a strong political institution, ready to contest every election, with a focus on the general election. He urged all members to aid in reforming the party and to propose any changes they deem necessary, reinforcing that the party is closely tied to its MPs. He highlighted the party's commitment to being a true opposition party and a pillar of the country, vowing to fight vigorously in the next election.
Reporters noted that after the meeting adjourned, Khunying Potjaman Damapong, the former wife of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, offered encouragement to party members, saying simply, "Fight on!" This statement prompted a standing ovation from MPs, as they interpreted her words to mean that Shinawatra would continue to be a formidable force in the political arena.
