Jakarta: Indonesia has condemned Israel's rejection of a 15-point roadmap for Gaza, warning that dismissing the proposal could undermine international efforts to end the conflict and rebuild the Palestinian enclave. Foreign ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela said on Thursday that Jakarta considers the roadmap a collective international effort to restore living conditions for Palestinians in Gaza, according to state-run Antara News.
According to TRTworld.com, Nabyl stated, "We reject any rejection that could derail this collective effort," during a media briefing in Jakarta. He emphasized that the broader plan, supported by multiple parties, aims to end Israel's genocidal war, restore stability in Gaza, and promote wider regional stability. Nabyl highlighted that the Gaza recovery plan was endorsed by the UN Security Council through Resolution 2803, adopted in November 2025.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the 15-point document on Sunday, asserting that Israeli forces would not withdraw from Gaza until the Palestinian resistance group Hamas is fully disarmed. This has strained international relations further, as Indonesia continues to back the global push for Gaza's recovery.
The ongoing conflict has taken a severe toll on Gaza's population. The brutal Israeli offensive in Gaza has resulted in over 73,000 deaths and more than 174,000 injuries since October 2023, as reported by Gaza's Health Ministry. Although a ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, as part of the first phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan, Gaza's health ministry claims Israeli attacks have persisted. Since the ceasefire began, at least 1,258 people have been killed and 4,139 wounded in continued attacks, according to the ministry.
