Increased Rainfall Predicted Across Thailand, Flash Floods Possible

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department reports increased rainfall in Thailand, with heavy rain in some areas of the Northeast, East, and the western coast of the South. Waves in the upper Andaman Sea will be quite strong. In Bangkok and its vicinity, thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department forecasts increased rainfall over the next 24 hours, with some heavy rain in the Northeast, East, and the western coast of the South. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of the dangers of heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and mudslides, particularly in hillsides near waterways and low-lying areas. This is due to a low-pressure area over northern Laos and northern Vietnam, coupled with the strengthening southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the upper Andaman Sea will be quite strong. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves approximately 2 meters high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves will be higher than 2 meters. The lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves 1-2 meters high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves will be higher than 2 meters. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

For the weather forecast from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow, the Northern region will see thunderstorms in 60% of the area, mostly in provinces like Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai, with temperatures ranging from 23-37 degrees Celsius. In the Northeastern region, 60% of the area will experience thunderstorms, with heavy rain expected in provinces such as Nong Khai and Udon Thani, and temperatures between 23-37 degrees Celsius.

The Central region will have thunderstorms covering 40% of the area, with temperatures from 23-37 degrees Celsius. The Eastern region will see thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rain in some provinces, and temperatures from 24-35 degrees Celsius.

In Southern Thailand, both the east and west coasts will experience thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with varying wind speeds and wave heights, particularly in areas with thunderstorms. Residents and mariners are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
