Heavy Machinery Deployed in Zone B Amid Ongoing Rescue Efforts at Collapse Site

Bangkok: Heavy machinery has been deployed to Zone B, where officials are working to clear large obstacles blocking access in the aftermath of the Office of the Auditor General building collapse. The machinery was brought in to cut through the gaps where large concrete slabs continue to obstruct the way, enabling rescue operations to proceed more efficiently.

According to Thai News Agency, officials have been tirelessly aiding victims of the building collapse, with efforts intensifying since heavy machinery was introduced to the area yesterday afternoon. The machinery worked throughout the night until 5 am today, and a rotation of personnel is planned to continue the search for trapped individuals. The operation involves a strategic approach, akin to military tactics, where heavy machinery is followed closely by a sub-team tasked with searching for bodies and any signs of life.

Initially, rescue efforts commenced in Zone A due to easier access. However, a slope has since been created to facilitate entry into Zone B, a more challenging area to reach. This adjustment allowed a backhoe to enter Zone B, marking a significant step forward in clearing the large concrete slabs still present. The operation is being conducted with utmost caution to ensure the safety of rescuers and potential survivors.

Zones C and D are currently considered the most likely areas where individuals may be trapped. These zones include the connecting path to the parking building and an escape route to the 5th floor parking area, frequently used by workers. Additionally, the elevator hall is under close scrutiny as it may harbor trapped individuals.

The international response has seen changes, with a foreign aid team from Israel recently withdrawing to attend to another mission in a different country. The rescue operations continue as teams remain dedicated to locating and assisting any survivors.
