Guidelines Issued for Condolences in Thai Football Competitions

Bangkok: Due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on 24 October 2025, the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage has announced guidelines for expressing condolences across all levels of football competitions. The organization aims to honor Her Majesty's memory in a respectful manner. According to Thai News Agency, the association has outlined specific practices to be followed during football competitions. These include observing a minute of silence before the start of each match, accompanied by the display of condolence images on stadium screens. Additionally, athletes, team officials, and referees are required to wear black armbands on one side as a symbol of mourning. The association requests the cooperation of audiences to refrain from using loud cheering equipment such as drums, horns, or displaying inappropriate signs. Spectators are encouraged to cheer together in a polite and respectful manner, in keeping with the atmosphere of mourning. These guidelines are e ffective immediately and will remain in place until further notice from the Football Association of Thailand. Compliance with these practices is mandatory for all member clubs.
