Bangkok: The government is urging citizens to join the "Travel Well, Get a Rebate 2025" initiative, which provides tax deductions as an incentive to enhance domestic tourism and bolster the economy, running from October 29 to December 15, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Government Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat highlighted that the campaign allows individuals to claim tax deductions on expenses related to hotel stays, Thai homestays, and VAT-registered accommodations, as well as dining at VAT-registered restaurants, with a cap of 20,000 baht. The deductions can be claimed using either a paper or electronic tax invoice (e-Tax Invoice) for the first half, and exclusively with an e-Tax Invoice for the remaining amount. Travelers visiting secondary cities can benefit from a 1.5x deduction, up to a maximum of 30,000 baht, while those traveling to primary cities are entitled to a 1x deduction, capped at 20,000 baht.
For businesses, the scheme allows companies or partnerships to deduct training or seminar expenses during the campaign period, provided the payments are made to VAT-registered operators and an e-Tax Invoice is issued. Transportation costs to non-VAT-registered operators can also be claimed with an electronic receipt. In secondary cities, businesses can deduct twice the actual expenses, while in primary cities, a 1.5x deduction is available.
Mr. Siripong noted that the initiative aims to encourage travel to 55 less-visited cities across various regions, such as the North, Northeast, Central, and South, thereby redistributing revenue to areas with untapped potential. The measure also introduces tax incentives for hotel operators, permitting them to deduct twice the actual costs of renovations or property enhancements until March 31, 2026, to elevate service standards.
He emphasized that the "2025 Travel Good, Get a Return" campaign is pivotal in driving short-term economic stimulation while fostering long-term benefits. The government calls upon citizens and businesses to utilize these benefits, thereby promoting economic growth and enhancing domestic tourism across the nation.
