Government Launches 12 Campaigns to Boost Rainy Season Tourism in Thailand

Bangkok: The government has initiated an ambitious plan to enhance tourism during the rainy season by launching 12 distinct campaigns, aiming to reach a revenue target of 1.17 trillion baht this year, and encouraging year-round travel in Thailand without a designated low season.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has embarked on the 'City of Tourists, Year of Celebration' project. This initiative aims to promote travel across 55 provinces nationwide as part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, designed to invigorate Thailand's tourism economy during the Green Season.

Scheduled to take place from June to September 2025, the project seeks to integrate efforts from the government, private sector, and various partners to enhance domestic travel. The campaign aims to spotlight attractive cities as new destinations, thereby stimulating the market with 12 marketing initiatives tailored to Thai travelers' interests in sub-culture groups and emerging travel cultures. The ultimate objective is to generate 1.17 trillion baht in tourism revenue by 2025 and attract over 205 million domestic travelers.

Project partners are offering a range of incentives, including discounts, privileges, and prizes. Notable offers include Vietjet Air's 15% ticket discount, Thai Lion Air's maximum 25% ticket discount, and bonus miles from Thai Royal Orchid Holiday on Thai Airways. Online Travel Agency (OTA) platform Gother, alongside tour platforms, is also providing special discounts on accommodation bookings. Ms. Sasikarn emphasized the significance of tourism as a crucial economic driver for Thailand, stating, "The government is committed to stimulating the economy in all dimensions at all times by organizing seamless tourism campaigns. Thai tourism is not limited to summer or winter because the 'rainy season' is a good opportunity to relax, recharge, and support the local economy at the same time. We invite our fellow citizens to join us in having fun traveling in Thailand, creating happiness, and pushing the Thai economy to grow steadily and sustainably."
