Sisaket: The government has joined in mourning the victims of a BM-21 rocket attack by Cambodia, which targeted a gas station in Kantharalak District. A memorial service was held where residents laid flowers in memory of the innocent lives lost in the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the event began at 9:30 a.m. at the PTT Ban Phue gas station. Ms. Phakhanan Sila-at, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Administration, organized the service to pay respects and send off the spirits of the deceased. The gathering drew many Kantharalak residents, members of the Thai and international media, and local citizens who were moved by the tragedy.
The attack, which took place on July 24th, saw the Cambodian army firing a BM-21 rocket at the civilian area, causing immediate fatalities, including an eight-year-old child. Social media amplified the news, leading to a significant turnout of people wishing to express their condolences at the site of the tragedy.
In response to the attack, the government, with the involvement of the Center for Emergency Response (CERES), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Army, and the Public Relations Department, facilitated a visit for ambassadors and military attaches from 23 countries. The delegation, accompanied by 150 Thai and international media representatives from over 40 news agencies, visited the affected areas. They engaged with local residents to gather firsthand information on the damage and the impact of the attack. Many international representatives expressed their condolences and supported Thailand's peaceful resolution efforts.
