Bangkok: The government has announced that the "Half-Half Plus" program, aimed at stimulating the grassroots economy, will remain in effect until December 31, 2025. Citizens can utilize the program without the requirement of spending a minimum amount daily, and any unused balance can be carried over to the next day.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwattana, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, addressed misinformation circulating on social media regarding the "Half-Half Plus" program. Contrary to claims that participants would lose their rights if they spent less than 200 baht per day, the government clarified that there is no daily minimum spending requirement. Any amount not spent can be rolled over to subsequent days within the program's timeframe.
The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, emphasizes stimulus measures to support the grassroots economy, reduce living costs, and boost income for small businesses across various sectors. The program allows citizens to utilize a 50% co-payment option via the G-Wallet app at participating businesses such as general stores, barbershops, Thai massage parlors, laundromats, restaurants, cafes, and delivery services.
Ms. Lalida reassured citizens that they could continue to use their program rights without fear of disqualification for spending less than the stipulated 200 baht per day. The initiative encourages citizens to engage in economic activities that benefit local communities and small enterprises, aligning with government policies to strengthen economic foundations.
