Glittering Candy Bags Transformed Into Thailand’s First School Building Made From Waste

Chiang mai: No one would have thought that plastic bags and shiny candy bags discarded as waste would become a school building for children at Ban Pakang School in Chiang Mai. The new structure was built to replace the original building, which was damaged by an earthquake almost two years ago.

According to Thai News Agency, help came from the Green Road team, a recycling project that utilized more than 800,000 plastic bags. These bags were shredded and melted down through heat into plastic sheets, which were then assembled to create Thailand's first school building made entirely from waste. In addition, efforts are underway to make tables and chairs for students using plastic bottle caps, further contributing to waste reduction in the community.
