General Nattapol Meets Malaysian Prime Minister Ahead of Thailand-Cambodia GBC Meeting

Kuala lumpur: Government spokesman reveals Gen. Nattapol leads a delegation to meet with the Malaysian Prime Minister before attending the GBC meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, a government spokesman announced that General Nattapol led a delegation to meet with the Prime Minister of Malaysia before attending the Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee (GBC) meeting. He confirmed Thailand's commitment to a joint ceasefire, measures to reduce tensions, and mutual respect for sovereignty.

At 11:00 a.m., Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Government Spokesperson and the CCSA, stated that this morning, General Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As head of the Thai delegation to the GBC meeting, he paid a courtesy call on Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya at 9:30 a.m. local time. The visit expressed appreciation for Malaysia's role as ASEAN Chair, which has been important in promoting regional peace, including organizing this GBC meeting. Thailand reiterated its dedication to peaceful conflict resolution, adherence to international law, and mutual respect for sovereignty.

This afternoon at 1:00 PM Malaysian time, General Nattapol and a high-ranking Thai delegation, including General Songwit Noonpakdee, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; General Thongchai Rodyoy, Chief of Staff of the Army; Admiral Pairoj Fuengchan, Chief of Staff of the Navy; and Air Chief Marshal Wachirapol Muangnoi, Chief of Staff of the Air Force; along with working groups from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, and relevant security agencies, will attend the Thailand-Cambodia GBC. Observers from the United States and China will also be present.

Today's meeting had important agenda items, addressing issues such as restoring trust between the two sides' military forces, confirming a joint ceasefire, implementing tension-reducing measures in at-risk areas, and civilian protection. General Nattapol emphasized that ensuring the safety of people in border areas and moving towards sustainable relations restoration are key goals for Thailand.

"The government urges the public to be assured that all Thai actions adhere to international law and humanitarian principles, avoiding excessive force and retaliation against targets in civilian communities. This approach aims for a dignified, fair conflict resolution, leading to sustainable future cooperation," said Mr. Jirayu.
