Free Expressway Travel Announced for Asalha Bucha and Buddhist Lent Holidays

Bangkok: Deputy government spokesperson Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak has announced that expressway travel will be free on three routes during the Asalha Bucha and Buddhist Lent holidays. The toll exemption applies to 61 checkpoints from 00.01 hrs. to 24.00 hrs. on July 10 and 11, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Transport, under the directive of the Prime Minister's Office, will waive toll fees on the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway, Si Rat Expressway, and Udon Ratthaya Expressway. The Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway includes 20 toll booths, such as Dao Khanong and Din Daeng, while the Si Rat Expressway features 31 checkpoints, including Prachachuen and Ratchadaphisek. The Udon Ratthaya Expressway, covering the Bang Pa-in - Pak Kret route, has 10 toll booths.

Additionally, the Motorway Department of Highways is offering a trial service for the M81 Bang Yai - Kanchanaburi motorway. This includes free travel at seven checkpoints, including Bang Yai and Nakhon Chai Si, from 00.01 hrs. on July 10 to 09.00 hrs. on July 14, 2025. However, the Si Sathong Checkpoint will remain closed during this period.

Mr. Anukul stated that the toll exemption aligns with government and Ministry of Transport policies, as outlined in the amended concession agreement with the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), and Northern Bangkok Expressway Company Limited (NECL). The initiative aims to facilitate public travel, reduce expenses, and alleviate traffic congestion during the holidays.
