Bang pa-in: A tragic incident unfolded in Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, where a former son-in-law fatally shot his ex-father-in-law during a heated confrontation. The perpetrator, identified as Mr. Thirachot, broke into his ex-wife Ms. Parinchanaya's home in an attempt to mend relations but was met with resistance from the family.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thirachot forcibly entered the residence by climbing over a fence and breaking through a screen door. Upon encountering his ex-father-in-law, Mr. Bancha, a verbal altercation escalated, culminating in Mr. Thirachot shooting Mr. Bancha once. When the firearm jammed during a second attempt, Mr. Thirachot resorted to using a pair of scissors to inflict further harm. The 60-year-old Mr. Bancha succumbed to his injuries, while Mr. Thirachot sustained four gunshot wounds and is currently in critical condition at Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital.
Investigators from Bang Pa-in Provincial Police, along with forensic experts, gathered crucial evidence at the scene. They discovered Mr. Bancha's body on the ground floor with a gunshot wound to the chest and a stabbing injury to the neck. A pair of scissors and a 9mm pistol were found near the body, and a separate firearm belonging to Mr. Thirachot was located with a jammed bullet inside a shoulder bag.
Ms. Parinchanaya recounted the events leading up to the tragedy, explaining that her ex-husband had been persistently abusive towards her and their daughter, prompting her to refuse him entry. Despite her efforts to secure the home, Mr. Thirachot managed to break in, initiating the deadly encounter. She had previously sought refuge with relatives due to his violent behavior but was compelled to return home under duress.
Eyewitnesses corroborated Ms. Parinchanaya's account, noting frequent disputes between the couple at the residence. On this occasion, the altercation was notably more violent, with multiple gunshots heard. Villagers witnessed Mr. Thirachot fleeing the scene, covered in blood, and attempting to escape in a vehicle before being detained by authorities.
Police are intensifying their investigation, meticulously collecting evidence such as bullet trajectories and gunpowder residue, while also preparing to interview witnesses and family members. Mr. Thirachot remains under police custody at the hospital, pending his recovery and subsequent legal proceedings.
