Flooding Persists in Lom Sak Economic Zone for Sixth Time in a Month

Lom sak: Flooding continues to plague the Lom Sak Economic Zone, with water levels in the Pa Sak River remaining over a meter above the riverbank. This marks the sixth flooding incident in one month, as water leaks have inundated the district's commercial area.

According to Thai News Agency, the Clock Tower Roundabout, a vital commercial hub in Lom Sak Municipality, Phetchabun Province, has been submerged after water from the Pa Sak River flowed along Wachi Road. The flooding extended to the roundabout, significantly affecting roads in Lom Sak's commercial area. Though the water level was between 20-30 centimeters, it caused travel disruptions and compelled shop owners to line sandbags along the roads to prevent water from entering their premises.

The flooding has enveloped the entire stretch along Wachi Road from the Lom Sak District Office to the Lom Sak Municipal Fresh Market. Fortunately, the market, situated on higher ground, experienced minimal flooding. Vendors continue to operate, and locals persist in purchasing goods despite the challenging conditions.

Uncle Hoi, a 70-year-old fruit vendor at Lom Sak Municipal Market, reported that the market has experienced five previous floods this month. He noted that the current impact is relatively minor, allowing him to continue his business, albeit with caution.

The largest wave of water from the Pa Sak River passed through Lom Sak Municipality late last night, with the highest water level recorded at 9 meters 80 centimeters at the S3 measuring point in Tambon Tan Diao. Although it began to recede this morning, it remains over 1 meter 20 centimeters above the riverbank, necessitating close monitoring of the situation.

If the northern region experiences no further rain and the embankment holds, the residents of Lom Sak may find relief, as the current flooding may not escalate further.
