Father Admits to Pushing Infant off Bed, Resulting in Tragic Death.

Bangkok: The father of a 6-month-old child has confessed to pushing his baby off the bed, an action that resulted in the child’s death, although he claimed he did not intend to kill him. The Khan Na Yao Police Station has pressed charges against him for assault leading to death and violating the Domestic Violence Act, with plans to detain him today.

According to Thai News Agency, the tragic incident prompted the police to investigate further and question the child’s parents. Initially, the father, Mr. Methee, stated that he found his child on the floor after hearing cries, assuming the child had fallen out of bed. However, he later admitted to accidentally knocking the baby off the bed.

Mr. Methee’s father visited the police station to see his son and expressed concerns about the portrayal of events in the news, suggesting that only one side of the story, that of Mr. Methee’s wife, was being heard. He also noted his son’s history of moving out at a young age and his frequent requests for financial help, alt
hough he was not aware of any domestic conflicts involving Mr. Methee.

While admitting that his son has a quick temper, Mr. Methee’s father doubted the possibility of physical abuse, citing his son’s usual affection for animals and children. He chose not to post bail, believing his son should face the consequences of his actions.

The child’s mother, visibly distraught, collected her son’s body from the Institute of Forensic Medicine. She revealed receiving apologetic messages from her husband, who pleaded for reconciliation and promised to quit drinking. However, she expressed her refusal to reconcile, despite being pregnant with another child.

The mother also detailed the escalating violence in their relationship, describing her husband’s increasingly aggressive behavior and physical abuse towards both her and their child. She recounted alarming instances of her husband biting and shaking their baby, as well as a particularly frightening episode where he pressed a pillow against the child’s face.

Despite
Mr. Methee’s claims of accidental harm, his wife remained skeptical, citing inconsistencies in his testimony. After a lengthy interrogation, Mr. Methee confessed to the abuse, citing stress from an argument with his wife as the catalyst. He is charged with causing physical harm resulting in death and will be presented to the Criminal Court for detention.
