Expedite Damage Survey in Pattani After Water Recedes.

PATTANI: In Pattani Province, water levels are continuously decreasing. Shop owners are starting to clean up their shops, with significant damage found, while areas near the river are still flooded. The latest flood situation in Pattani Province has found that the water level has continuously decreased, causing many areas to start to look similar. Similarly, in Pattani Municipality, which is the main economic area of Pattani Province, the water level has continuously decreased. Currently, it is found that many roads that were previously flooded more than 70 centimeters deep are now at 30 centimeters deep. Motorcycles can now drive through, causing shops to gradually clean up their shops in order to reopen them. From inspecting the shops, it was found that the shop that was most damaged was the frozen food shop. It was found that all freezers, refrigerators, and frozen food cabinets were severely damaged because water had damaged the internal systems of the machines. Therefore, urgent repairs are required in o
rder to reopen them.

According to Thai News Agency, the shop’s employees said that the shop was badly damaged, whether it was dried food, frozen food, or frozen chicken, all the cabinets were damaged, especially the freezer, which had to be taken to the service center for repairs. The water didn’t get in time to clear the shop, and the water flooded the shop up to the knees. We put out the fire at the shop. Today we came to clear the shop to take all the remaining items to another branch to manage the shop because we saw that the water was starting to recede.

While the areas along the Pattani River and Sai Buri River, although the water level has decreased, it has decreased slowly because water in nearby areas, including water from Yala Province, continues to flow into the Pattani River, causing the water to continue to flood and overflow the banks, causing the water drainage to be slow in 5 districts along the Pattani River, namely Muang District, Yarang District, Nong Chik District, Khok Pho District, and
Mae Lan District, which are still flooded.

Flooding in Narathiwat is still critical in 2 districts due to the overflowing Golok River. In Narathiwat Province, the latest update is that the overall sky has begun to have bright sunlight covering all 13 districts, and the rain has stopped for 2 consecutive days, resulting in flooding in agricultural areas and people’s homes starting to return to normal by 60%.

The critical areas of Narathiwat Province were affected by the overflowing Kolok River in 2 districts, Su-ngai Kolok and Tak Bai. There are still flooding in 7 communities, 5 sub-districts, and 19 villages. Su-ngai Kolok District still has flooding in 7 communities in the Su-ngai Kolok Municipality: Huasaphan Community, Tha Kopai Community, Tha Rong Lueai Community, Tha Prapa Community, Po Hong Yamu Community, Tha Je Kaseng Community, and Tha Buereng Community. These are areas that are repeatedly flooded. The average flooding level is 50-90 cm. Ms. Suchada Phan Nara, Mayor of Su-ngai Kolok Municipality,
