Emergency Patient Checkpoint Opened for Cambodian Woman with Blood Infection

Chanthaburi: Thai kindness! Opening the border to receive emergency patients, a 67-year-old Cambodian woman with a blood infection, sent for treatment at Chanthaburi Hospital.

According to Thai News Agency, on 21 June 2015, it was reported that the previous day at 9:00 p.m., the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Force, in collaboration with the Chanthaburi Marine Special Forces and the 4th Marine Expeditionary Force, facilitated an emergency border crossing for Mrs. Yang Tach, a 67-year-old Cambodian woman. Mrs. Tach, who was suffering from a blood infection, high fever, chills, and severe headaches, was transported to Bangkok Chanthaburi Hospital due to the lack of medical equipment and personnel in the Cambodian hospital.

Upon receiving the coordination, the situation was escalated to the commander, and the deputy commander of the Provincial Police Region 7 authorized the opening of the checkpoint as an emergency measure based on humanitarian grounds. This decision was made to ensure that Mrs. Tach could receive prompt and necessary treatment from a specialist doctor.

The operation involved a coordinated effort to transfer the patient at the Thai-Cambodian border bridge. Medical personnel with necessary equipment were stationed on the bridge to receive Mrs. Tach. Once the transfer was completed, the Marine soldiers guarding the checkpoint promptly closed the gate, adhering to the pre-arranged agreement to facilitate the emergency medical intervention.
