EGAT Highlights Triple S Strategy at COP29 to Propel Thailand Towards Carbon Neutrality.

Baku: EGAT joins the Thai delegation presenting their work on the Thailand Pavilion stage of the COP29 meeting, highlighting the Triple S strategy, using technology and innovation to drive environmentally friendly electricity production, pushing Thailand to achieve the goal of Carbon Neutrality. Mr. Ekkarat Samintrapanya, Assistant Governor - Power Plant Planning, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed that EGAT joined the Thai delegation to participate in a parallel activity of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. According to Thai News Agency, there was a seminar on 'Energy Transition Towards Carbon Neutrality', highlighting the Triple S strategy: Sources Transformation, increasing the proportion of electricity generation from renewable energy, upgrading power plants and power systems with new technologies, Sink Co-creation, increasing carbon storage and absorption sources, and Support Measures Mechanism, promoting the participation of all sectors in the efficient use of energy, along with developing projects on social and environmental responsibility to create Creating Shared Value (CSV) for society, communities surrounding dams and power plants sustainably through pilot projects. 'Mae Moh, a Livable City' to develop Mae Moh District, Lampang Province into a low-carbon economic city with 3 concepts: Smart Energy, Smart Environment and Smart Economy, including preparation to expand to the Ratchaprapha Dam and Krabi Power Plant areas. In addition, EGAT co-presented the work on the topic of 'From Waste to Solutions: Compostable Packaging and Biomass Products for a Cleaner Environment' by transforming agricultural waste into compressed biomass sheets, which have the properties of reducing noise and heat, as well as reducing the burning of agricultural materials, which is one of the causes of PM 2.5 and global warming, to help drive and support Thailand to achieve the country's greenhouse gas reduction targets. EGAT also organized an exhibition to show the progress of innovation and climate change technology (Climate Technology) in the field of electric power in the Thailand Pavilion, such as the ENZY Platform, an intelligent energy management system that controls and manages electric power in real time, with analysis using AI technology, the development of EGAT EV Business Solutions, products and services for electric vehicle charging stations, and EGAT's floating solar power plant project in the dam (Floating Solar Project). 'EGAT is committed to using innovation and electric power technology to develop the country's electricity grid, supporting all changes in energy to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and helping to increase the country's competitiveness both regionally and internationally, creating growth for the country's economy,' said Mr. Ekarat.
