DSI Mobilizes Special Equipment to Investigate Tangmo Case

Bangkok: DSI uses laser scanners, drone scanners, patrol boats, sonar, and 3D image processing to compare with simulation data on the day of the incident in the Tangmo case.

According to Thai News Agency, since morning, DSI has arranged a large team of 25 investigators who are experts in investigation, forensic science, geographic maps and special operations units to go to the area and inspect the scene of the Tangmo case by boat, following requests to investigate those involved in the case and doubts in the witness interrogation.

In the morning, 5 operational ships were deployed to survey the entire shipping route, following the timeline of the case, divided into 3 groups: a group surveyed the underwater area with sonar, from the area of ??the incident at Ban Tanit, Pathum Thani, to Rama VIII Bridge; a second group used laser scanning to document the entire terrain; and a third group used drones to scan every point in the area to cover it.

The main scanning areas are 3 points: the Bat Temple Pier, the middle of the river near Soi Charansanitwong 92, the Bat Temple Pier, and the sand pier in front of Poonpipat Company Limited. The main areas used are laser scanning and drones to collect data. At the Bat Temple or Sand Pier, water samples were collected to verify whether they matched the contents of Tangmo's lungs, according to the inspection report.

The sonar will tell you what the condition of the water is like, whether it is soil, mud or sand. All of this will be analyzed for the group of forensic doctors invited from no less than 10 institutes to see if the data collected today is consistent with the inspection report or not.

The tool used today is the first time it has been used in a criminal case. Previously, it was only used in natural resource and environmental cases, such as investigating illegal mining or encroachment on forest areas. This special tool is highly accurate.
