DSI Defers Prosecution Decision to NACC in Audit Office Building Case

Bangkok: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has decided not to pursue charges against six members of the State Audit Office building inspection committee concerning a bid collusion case. Instead, the DSI has transferred the case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), indicating confidence in the NACC's ability to further investigate and potentially prosecute the individuals involved.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Yuthana Praedam, the Director-General of the DSI, announced that investigators from the DSI have submitted the case file to the prosecutor. This submission concerns the alleged bid collusion in the construction of the Office of the Auditor General's building. The DSI has gathered evidence suggesting that charges could be pressed against six members of various committees, including the control and acceptance committees.

However, Pol. Lt. Col. Yuthana clarified that the decision to prosecute executives or other involved parties lies with the NACC, as it holds the investigative authority. The DSI's role is limited to evidence collection and notification of relevant parties. Despite the uncertainty regarding the evidence's applicability against executives, Yuthana expressed confidence in the NACC's capability to examine the facts and hold the responsible individuals accountable.

In this accusatory system, each agency operates strictly within the bounds of the law. The NACC, as the primary authority, possesses the jurisdiction to assess and impose penalties on those implicated in the case.
