Rayong: DSI joins forces with the Navy and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board to break up a drug network, seizing 2.4 tons of crystal methamphetamine worth over 3 billion baht, ready for export. The Prime Minister praised the officers and announced that he would continue to suppress drugs.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, and Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, jointly announced the crackdown on a drug network, seizing 2.4 tons of ice, valued at more than 3 billion baht in foreign markets. This network utilized Thai waters in the area of Pak Nam Prasae, Klaeng District, Rayong Province, to export drugs abroad for transport to third countries.

On June 21, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., arresting officers deployed four rubber patrol boats to inspect and monitor suspicious vessels in the Gulf of Thailand at the mouth of the Prasae River, approximately 5 nautical miles from the coast. They identified a suspicious 90 gross ton tourist motorboat, marked with the message 'PAIKANCATAMARANS' on its side.

Eight male individuals were on board. Upon noticing the arresting officers, they attempted to flee, behaving suspiciously and preparing to dispose of sacks of drugs into the sea. The officers intercepted the boat, arrested all eight individuals, and confirmed that the white flakes on board were methamphetamine, totaling approximately 2.4 tons (2,399 kilograms).

The Prime Minister praised all officials involved in the operation for their success in seizing this large quantity of drugs. The government maintains a clear stance against all forms of drug trafficking and will continue to support the integration of information, the use of investigative technology, and the professional work of government agencies to tackle this issue at both the local and network levels.
