Development of Road No. Phatthalung 4004 Nears Completion to Boost Songkhla Lake Tourism

Phatthalung: The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, in collaboration with the Department of Rural Roads, is set to enhance tourism along the coast of Songkhla Lake by improving transportation infrastructure. The construction of Road No. Phatthalung 4004 has progressed over 83% and is expected to be operational by the end of this year.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Montree Dechasakulsom, the Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, announced that the construction of rural road No. Phor. 4004, which intersects with Highway No. 4081 and extends to Ban Fa Lamy in Khao Chai Son District, Phatthalung Province, is significantly ahead of schedule. This road, which spans over 25 kilometers, is anticipated to be fully accessible to the public by the end of 2568. The completion of this project is seen as a vital upgrade to the transportation infrastructure serving the natural tourist attractions of the Songkhla Lake Basin.

The Director-General elaborated that the road construction begins at km. 0+000 in Tambon Chong Thanon, Khao Chai Son District, and continues through Bang Kaeo District, following the coastline of Songkhla Lake, ending at km. 25+616 in Tambon Fa Lamy, Pak Phayun District. The road is being constructed with an asphalt concrete surface, featuring two traffic lanes that are 7 meters wide, with shoulders ranging from 1 to 2.50 meters. The project also includes the expansion of existing bridges, installation of lighting, traffic signs, and safety facilities, with a total investment of 429.500 million baht.

Upon completion, Road No. Phatthalung 4004 is expected to boost ecotourism, cultural tourism, and sustainable natural resource management in the region. It will enhance the transportation network and logistics system connecting to the deep-sea ports of Songkhla and Satun provinces, effectively alleviating traffic on main roads. This development aims to support increased travel, offering convenience, speed, and safety, while simultaneously promoting economic growth, trade, and tourism to generate sustainable income for the local community.
