Deputy Minister of Interior Questions Land Department Over Alpine Land Revocation

Bangkok: Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has raised questions with the Land Department regarding the revocation of Alpine Golf Course land ownership. The issue revolves around the reported signing by Mr. Chatcha Thaiset, former Deputy Minister of Interior, to return the land to temple ownership, which the Deputy Permanent Secretary claims was not within his knowledge as it falls under the authority of the Land Department.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, addressed the media about the situation, emphasizing that the responsibility for this matter lies with the Land Department. He clarified that the power to make decisions regarding the land revocation rests solely with the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and they are expected to take appropriate action soon.

The reporter sought clarification on the truthfulness of the news, to which Mr. Arsit responded that the minister does not have the authority to make such decisions but may express an initial opinion. The final decision-making authority belongs to the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Arsit further stated that he would need to consult with the Land Department for details on whether Mr. Chatda had indeed signed the cancellation. He reiterated his lack of knowledge on the specifics and requested not to be questioned further on the matter.
