CSD to Summon Comedians and Businessman Over Financial Links to Former Monk Alongkot

Bangkok: The Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) has announced plans to summon two comedians and a businessman to explain their financial connections to former monk Alongkot. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly examining the evidence and financial connections before proceeding with the summonses for the second group of suspects.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Colonel Anek Taosuphap, Deputy Commander of the CSD, provided an update on the investigation into the "Alongkot Drama" network. The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) recently delivered financial analysis results, identifying nearly 30 individuals with suspicious financial ties needing further investigation. Among these, two comedians and one businessman are believed to be connected to former monk Alongkot.

The investigation revealed that the first comedian received approximately one million baht from former monk Alongkot, initially directly and later through a nominee. The purpose of the funds remains undisclosed, with possibilities including payment for comedy performances or a loan. The second comedian has not been found to have any direct financial connection but reportedly took assets from the abbot's quarters after Alongkot's resignation as abbot of Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu.

The businessman, not from Lop Buri province, allegedly received hundreds of millions of baht from the former monk, which he used for business investments. Police are in the process of inviting witnesses to provide statements to verify their claims. Any attempts to conceal or distort facts will be scrutinized to assess the intention behind them. Coordination efforts are already underway, and the issuance of summonses for the second batch of suspects will follow a thorough examination of evidence and financial details.

Regarding potential financial connections to "Jane Yantip" and fortune teller L., Pol. Col. Anek stated that he is not yet aware of the details. However, preliminary information from AMLO suggests that these individuals' names are not included in the current list.

Pol. Col. Anek confirmed that despite his transfer to a higher position and no longer overseeing the case following a royal command, a dedicated working group is managing the investigation, ensuring its continuation and expansion.
