Bangkok: Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has emphasized the Constitutional Court's discretion regarding the petition involving Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra and the Pheu Thai Party's alleged attempt to overthrow the government. The petition, filed by Mr. Thirayuth Suwannakasorn, accuses the former Prime Minister and his party of actions against the government scheduled for a decision on November 22. Mr. Chusak insists that the allegations do not meet the criteria for overthrowing the government and views the situation as a discussion about government formation rather than an attempt to destabilize it. He called on Pheu Thai members to consider the possibility of suing Mr. Thirayuth. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak expressed his stance during an interview, highlighting that the court has the sole authority to decide on the petition's acceptance. He argued that the talks and discussions taking place are part of democratic processes, not hostile actions against the gover nment. Mr. Chusak reiterated that overthrowing a government requires actions that undermine the democratic system, which he believes is not the case here. He also mentioned that the Attorney General shares the opinion that the petition does not meet the necessary criteria for government overthrow, but the final decision remains with the court. When queried about the Attorney General's stance possibly providing relief to the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Chusak humorously remarked that they were aware of the petition's lack of validity from the outset. He emphasized that the legal foundation for the petition was weak. Regarding potential repercussions if the court does not accept the petition, Mr. Chusak stated that any counteraction would depend on the court's rationale for rejection. He expressed a desire to avoid a legal battle and focus on national progress, echoing the sentiments of many within the Pheu Thai Party who are considering ways to prevent similar unfounded processes in the future.
