Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Monitors Flood Situation in Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces has taken proactive measures to address the flood situation impacting Bang Ban District in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. General Ukrit Boontanon, the Commander-in-Chief, visited the area to assess the situation and provide aid to those affected.

According to Thai News Agency, General Ukrit was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Nonthawat Phakdiphongpichaya, Deputy Commander of the Army Development Command, and Maj. Gen. Apirat Ramnak, Director of the 1st Region Development Office, Army Development Command. Col. Mahidon Boonkrong, Commander of Mobile Development Unit 15, 1st Region Development Office, Army Development Command, as well as government officials and community leaders, were also present. Together, they distributed relief bags and drinking water, organized personnel to prepare freshly cooked meals, and offered mobile medical services. Additionally, eyeglasses were provided to elderly residents in need.

In a noteworthy act of compassion, a mobile medical team visited Ms. Prakong Chaisaeng, a 67-year-old bedridden patient suffering from brain disorders and Parkinson's disease, at her flood-affected home. The relief efforts have extended support to 500 households, encompassing approximately 1,500 people in Bang Ban District.

The Commander-in-Chief stressed the importance of military units in the area maintaining vigilance and working in coordination with other government agencies to ensure timely assistance for affected residents. The Chao Phraya River is currently being drained at a rate of 2,500 cubic meters per second. This situation influences 9,558 households across 17 sub-districts, 131 villages, and four communities along the Noi River, with 399 households already experiencing flooding.

While main roads remain unaffected, 42 secondary roads, including those essential for village travel, have been impacted. Additionally, 10 temples, one mosque, seven schools, and two child development centers are affected. Tragically, five individuals have lost their lives due to drowning. From August 18 to October 6, 2025, data indicates that 9,558 households (39.10% of the total 24,472 households) and 28,149 of the 64,653 population have been affected by the ongoing situation.
