Cold Front Brings Frost and Red Maples to Loei Province

Loei: Phu Kradueng is experiencing a cold spell, with frost and vibrant red maples attracting visitors. The Meteorological Department forecasts that Thailand will continue to experience cold weather. At Phu Kradueng, Loei Province, the temperature on the grass was 0 degrees Celsius, causing frost for the third time. At Khok Nok Kraba, Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, maple leaves changed from green to red, falling from the trees and covering the ground.

According to Thai News Agency, the weather in Loei Province continues to drop in temperature. This morning, the temperature on the top of Phu Kradueng dropped to 6 degrees Celsius, while the temperature on the grass was 0 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest of the year. This has resulted in frost covering the leaves and grass on both sides of the road leading to Pha Hiap Mek, where tourists gather to witness the sunrise. Today marked the third frost of the winter season, impressing tourists.

For the safety of over 500 tourists at Phu Kradueng, officers are actively monitoring various points in the park. Despite elephants being driven into the closed forest, the park emphasizes safety measures and requests cooperation from tourists to avoid restricted areas and adhere to the advice of officers.

In Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, Phu Ruea District, temperatures have dropped to 6 degrees Celsius, the lowest this winter season. At the Khok Nok Kraba Forest Protection Unit, the maple leaves are turning from green to red and covering the ground. This transformation offers a scenic view for tourists eager to study nature and experience the cold weather.

Mr. Wanchai Simmasian, Chief of Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, stated that the weather at Khok Nok Kraba Forest Protection Unit remains cold year-round. Red maple leaves are at their peak from December to mid-January before falling in February. This period is a highlight for tourists eager to see the maple leaves. The sanctuary emphasizes the importance of safety, particularly regarding wild elephants. Camping is not allowed, and officers provide guidance on how to respond when encountering wild elephants. Tourists are advised to remain in their vehicles, keep engines off, and maintain a safe distance.

Beyond Phu Kradueng and Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, numerous mountaintop tourist attractions in Loei Province are experiencing single-digit temperatures, including Mueang Loei District, where temperatures reached 9 degrees Celsius this morning.
