Clear Evidence of Cambodian Soldiers Using PMN-2 Mines at Phu Makhuea

Phu makhuea: The Navy found important evidence confirming that Cambodian soldiers were illegally using PMN-2 mines in the Phu Makhuea area.

According to Thai News Agency, on August 19, 2025, the 1st Mine Clearance Team of the Royal Thai Navy Humanitarian Mine Action Unit (RTAMU), which supported mine clearance and clearance operations in the Phu Makhuea area, Sisaket Province, Company 132, Battalion 13 (Nuea Mek Base), discovered a mobile phone belonging to a Cambodian soldier that had been left in the area.

Officials inspected the inside of the device and found video clips and photographs clearly showing Cambodian soldiers holding PMN-2 landmines, along with audio recordings in Khmer. It is believed the demonstration was conducted before they were secretly buried in the Thai border area.

The evidence from the phone also clearly indicates the date and time the photos and videos were taken, thus providing crucial evidence to confirm the violation of the agreement and the use of landmines, which is in serious violation of international conventions.

The Royal Thai Navy (RTN) officials demonstrated carefulness and tact in immediately examining the evidence before handing it over to the local Army unit for further action.
