Chusak Unfazed by Temporary Control Over DSI Amid Pol. Col. Thawee’s Absence

Bangkok: Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, expressed no concerns over his temporary control of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) following the Constitutional Court's order for Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, the Minister of Justice, to step down. Chusak reassured the public that his role is merely administrative and emphasized that he has no investigative authority or involvement in the department's operations.

According to Thai News Agency, Chusak clarified that he is functioning as a caretaker, not a permanent minister, and that the DSI should continue operating under its established system. He urged the public not to worry, stating that any required approvals or permissions during this interim period would be managed smoothly, as he was acting only in a temporary capacity.

Chusak further explained that he had no special assignments or concerns, emphasizing that the DSI was operating within its legal mandates. He assured that he would neither interfere with nor direct ongoing investigations, maintaining that the DSI retains its autonomy under the law. His role, he noted, is limited to providing necessary administrative approvals.

Regarding any potential assignments from Pol. Col. Thawee, Chusak reiterated that his role is non-investigative and detached from political influences. He stressed the importance of allowing the DSI to function independently and without political interference, trusting in the integrity of the process.

Chusak also addressed speculation about the DSI's involvement in investigating alleged collusion between senators, clarifying that this responsibility lies with the Election Commission (EC). He confirmed that while the DSI collaborates with the EC, he has issued no directives regarding the matter, allowing the legal processes to unfold naturally.
